‘Tis is the season of giving — and what better way to give than to give from local stores? While everyone is scrambling around online to get the best deals, you easily can find some unique gifts with that Michigan flair we all know and love.

Here’s a list of some of our favorite Michigan made goods, that you can hopefully grab before the holiday season ends.

Sweet Stocking Stuffers. Starting in the upper part of the mitten: fruit preserves from Traverse City. With both cherry and blueberry flavors, and at only $4.50 per jar, this is the perfect stocking stuffer for someone looking for some homegrown comfort. Each bite has pieces of fruit in them, and one jar is about 10.5 ounces. You can find this Traverse Bay Farms treasure on

M22 Love. At M22, they provide an outlet for you to showcase your love for Michigan. Their company features shirts, mugs, bumper stickers, and more proudly displaying an image of the mitten state. The company was created by two Michigan-natives, Matt and Keegan Myers. To see all of their products, visit

Holiday Spirits. For adding a bit of spirit, literally, into your holiday season, look no further than Grand Traverse Distillery. The company sells all kinds of vodka, whiskey, and gin. You can also buy aging barrels for the person who can’t wait to craft their own liquor. Even if you’re not all-too-familiar with spirits, the website gives recipes for their products: chocolate martini, anyone?

Sporty Goods. If you’re in the market for sports equipment, look no further than Warren, Michigan. Founded in 1992, Warrior Sports is a manufacturer of innovative and high-performance equipment. On their website, you can buy everything from sports apparel to sports gear for lacrosse, hockey and soccer.

Holiday Decorations. And what would a holiday season be without a wreath? Heading a bit further north, you’ll find Wilson Evergreens, who has been providing gorgeous pieces for over 30 years. Wilson Evergreens is located in the Upper Peninsula and has decorative wreaths for every budget. See all they have to offer here.

Whatever you’re looking for this holiday season — even if it is last minute, as I tend to be — you don’t need to look any further than just out your doorstep. The mitten state offers products that will be perfect for everyone on your list.
