Do you want a financial advance for your business? If so, apply for the NEIdeas: Rewarding Ideas for Business Growth, a two-tiered challenge awarding $500,000 to existing small businesses in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.

This is hosted by the New Economy Initiative (NEI), a special project of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan (CFSEM). The application process opened on May 7, 2015. The deadlines are quickly approaching and are as follows:

  • $10K applicants will need to submit their application by June 4, 2015.
  • $100K applicants will need to submit by June 25, 2015.

The organization will grant cash awards to 32 existing businesses and provide access to support for small businesses. This challenge is aligned with the purpose of New Economy Imitative.

“NEI  is a special project of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan working to support entrepreneurship, small businesses growth, and innovation – from grass roots to high-growth – across the region,” says Jim Boyle, Senior Program Officer.  Last year was the first year that NEI held this contest and approximately 600 small businesses across Detroit applied.

Judges are compiled of a “very diverse and empathetic (group) of  small businesses people, entrepreneurs, and individuals from corporations and non-profit service providers. With that said, they’ll be looking for ideas that are impactful, courageous, interesting and achievable,” he continues.
