Garage Talk: Social Enterprise #FactOrFiction

July 21, 2016 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Remember First Fridays at TechTown? Of course you do! (And in case you don’t, it was the only place for Detroit’s startup and small business community to be the first Friday of every month.) Well, you asked us to bring it back—and we listened! But we’re gonna do it a little differently this time.

TechTown proudly presents:

Garage Talk, a monthly series featuring frank discussions on topics that matter to entrepreneurs, startups and the business community. With pizza and beer!

Join us Thursday, July 21st as we catch up with old friends (and some we see on the reg) to discuss:

Social enterprises: L3Cs, for-profits with triple bottom lines and small non-profits. How do they do their work? Has their work created the impact intended by these groups? How does public and private funding— the availability of it, or lack there-of—affect their work or their ability to accomplish their goals? What services or programs are there that support socially-conscious entrepreneurship? We’ve got lots of questions, and we’re sure you do, too. Let our guest speaker navigate you through Detroit’s social enterprise scene and after, bring up a couple guests, and respond to questions from the audience.
