Activating Leadership in the Good Food Business Community
September 28, 2016 @ 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Starting September 28th, FoodLab will be bringing together curious, collaborative and creative minds to work towards creating a sustainable, fair, and healthy food system that addresses how the “food movement” might come together on the issues of race, equity, and access.
“Activing Leadership In The Good Food Movement” provides a wonderful opportunity to learn from, be inspired by and connect with a cohort of food entrepreneurs committed to building the visibility and power of the local food movement.
Over the 2 months of this workshop series participants will be led in conversation by Malik Yakini, Detroit Black Community Food Security Network; Dr. Peter Hammer, Damon Keith Center for Justice; Dr. Alicia Farris, Restaurant Opportunities Center United Michigan; Kate Krauss, Fair Food Network and others to reflect on the role business leaders play in the larger food ecosystem. There will be a strong focus on supporting business leaders who are looking to address systemic disparities in the local food economy and activating community change through advocating for food justice.
The program will run from September 28th – November 12th which includes an orientation and six interactive workshops (including two Saturday sessions). There will be a community meal before each session for participants to engage in building stronger relationships.
