The Company Inspiring Creativity in Michigan

If you need any indication that Detroit is back on the rise, all you need to do is look at companies that are flocking there. Creative Many Michigan is one of those companies that has recently moved to the city from its previous headquarters in Wixom, Michigan, with the grand mission to inspire community, creativity and collaboration across the state.

Creative Many Michigan, formerly ArtServe Michigan, is a statewide economic development organization for the arts, culture and creative and design industries. Their move to Detroit has roots with a company that is already there, TechTown Detroit, a business incubator.

“TechTown has been a strategic partner for Creative Many’s professional practice and Lawyers for the Creative Economy programs, dialogue and networking events serving artists and designers in Detroit,” said Jennifer Goulet, president and CEO of Creative Many. “TechTowns entrepreneurial spirit aligns with our interests in cultivating creative talent, successful creative practices and business start-ups, and jobs and business growth in the creative and design industries.”

Creative Many Michigan officially moved into TechTown last December. Their new space boasts a spacious corner office suite of 1,386 square feet that has drop-in work spaces for team members and partners and also areas for brainstorming and ideation. In one word, the space is flexible, allowing the Creative Many team to collaborate and create in today’s ever-changing environment.

“We are doing a lot of work on the ground serving local artists and businesses in Detroit as part of our program portfolio. As we expanded our focus to the power of the creative economy, it made sense to consider a headquarters location where you’re at the pulse of that creative community,” Goulet says of the move to Detroit.

The move is only one of the things on Creative Many’s plate. They introduced their new name in September 2014 after revisiting their portfolio of work and their vision for the company. A few months later, they moved to Detroit. The multitude of new things going on with the company is a welcome thing to Goulet, who is excited for the important year ahead.

“This year, we’re at an amazing pivotal point, “ she said. “We’ve been spending a lot of time building strategy to really accelerate both awareness and understanding of the role of the creative/design sector as part of Michigan’s future. Now, as a tenant of TechTown, we are excited about the new strategic partnerships and program opportunities that will emerge as a result of working together in an environment that attracts and serves the creative sector.”

In addition to their new location, Creative Many Michigan will also keep its location in Lansing, Michigan (120 N. Washington Square, Suite 805) and is planning a satellite office in Grand Rapids to open in 2015.
