StyleShack Creates a Fashionable Shop Local Platform

Want to shop locally for your fashion taste? In Detroit, a new startup is making that happen.

StyleShack has created an online platform that lets you find your style, and then purchase it from local boutiques. Currently the website carries products from 18 Detroit-area stores.

“At Styleshack, we simulate the experience of working with in-store stylists by learning about our shoppers’ preferences and delivering relevant results,” said Rachel Schostak, founder of Styleshack. “By creating a customizable, local shopping experience online, we can help drive business to the local economy.”

Schostak attended school at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology before going on to work in the fashion industry in both New York City and Chicago. When she moved back to Detroit the idea came to her to create a better platform for local styles.

StyleShack is currently a Bizdom company accelerator. In the future the startup hopes to expand across Michigan and the Midwest.

“We are always looking for unique and awesome boutiques to join the Styleshack network,” said Rachel. “Also, boutiques are able to register for the site from our homepage.”
