There’s been lots of great investment news for Michigan, with the state seeing one of the best third quarters.

In Detroit, BoostUp scores $1 million from Detroit Venture Partners and launches a new crowdsavings platform. Bizdom’s accelerator program ups their funding so startups can receive $125,000. The State of Michigan is investing $4.5 million in two Detroit funds, the Detroit Innovate Fund I LP and Detroit Venture Partners LP. Four Southeast Michigan firms receive $80 billion in defense contracts.

In Ann Arbor, Swfit Biosciences announced they raised a $7 million Series B Round. The first ever winners of the Code Michigan event were announced, with an Ann Arbor coder taking the $20,000 grand prize. You can read the full recap on the Michigan Advantage blog too.

In Grand Rapids, a $2 million investment in Auto manufacturing will help create 50 new jobs. Start Garden invests in a mobile broadcasting device.

In general news, Michigan’s economy is seen as still improving but falls short of the top ten.  A new report in Xconomy shows that Michigan could be a global spot for attracting tech talent. Ann Arbor ranks high in technology jobs according the progressive policy institute.

Also, the Accelerate Michigan competition will be coming up, allowing entrepreneurs to compete for more than $1 million in grand prizes. Make sure you follow our Michipreneur calendar for upcoming events, pitch competitions, and more.
