New Online Portal Connects Higher Ed to Michigan Businesses

A new online portal has launched creating a better way for Michigan businesses to utilize our state’s research universities.

The portal allows businesses to see talent and resources available to them. It was created by the Michigan Corporate Relations Network (MCRN) to provide easier access into University resources.

The portal is free for Michigan businesses to use. Executive Director Jeff Mason says it was designed to serve both younger companies and more established businesses. You can log in to search for faculty members, patents available, and also look for lab space and equipment. A startup could find a patent or license to help establish their business model and get help with research needs.

“When businesses are trying to solve problems they can see how the University can potentially solve these problems,” says Mason. “Hopefully, it will lead to more collaboration across industries and universities.”

The MCRN is made of up six Michigan research universities, and their new portal can be accessed online at http://www.michigancrn.org/business-portal.php.
