MHacks Hosting Weekend Long Hackathon in Detroit

By Amanda Lewan on October 6th, 2016 / Comments

MHacks, one of the largest student run hackathons, is coming to Detroit this weekend October 7th-9th at the Masonic Temple.

The hackathon expect to see up to 2,000 attendees from the MHacks community. Over the weekend attendees will work in teams of 1-4 people coding projects of “hacks” they are excited about. There will be workshops, mentors, food and coffee along the way to keep people inspired and working together.  You do not need to be a programmer to attend. Walk-ins are welcome this weekend as space allows.

Also new to this year’s hackathon is a special focus on wellness. While sometimes hackathons have seen a culture of sleep deprivation, unhealthy food and snacks, and uncomfortable hacking, MHacks aims to provide more healthier options, including sleeping space, for participants.

MHacks is a group run by students at the University of Michigan. Learn more about MHacks and their upcoming event in Detroit here.
