Grand Rapids animal care has a new name to add to its list, a canine boutique located on Monroe Avenue. Fido & Stitch, founded and owned by Alli McDonough in 2015, fills the gap of a focused canine boutique in the city.

“Fido & Stitch came about by my ambition to be an entrepreneur and my love for dogs. After moving back to my roots in West Michigan and settling in Grand Rapids with my husband, I realized that Grand Rapids was missing something. There were no dog boutiques like the ones I frequented in Chicago,” says McDonough. “I quickly realized that the urban growth and development in the city of Grand Rapids along with the abundance of loving dog owners within the city, a retail shop and grooming salon would be the perfect fit!”

Fido & Stitch serves as a “one-stop-shop” for dog owners, who are able to purchase materials that are necessary for the health and well-being of your dog. The uniquely small boutique, can fill almost every need, with a tagline “Nourish. Pamper. Spoil. Repeat” explaining it all.

Fido & Stitch provides services beyond finding the perfect nourishment and toy for your pooch; among its expansive retail selection, it also has a self-servicing dog wash and full-service grooming salon.

“Our mission is to provide dog owners within the city a one-stop-shop experience, where they can get everything they need for their canine family member, but on a more specialty and luxury level,” says McDonough.

Fido & Stitch began to come together in June 2015, and celebrated its storefront opening on December 29. Watching all the phases come together, has been one of the most rewarding parts of the job for McDonough, among getting to see her customers benefit from the selection of services.

With the start of a new year, the possibilities are endless for McDonough and her team at Fido & Stitch. In the next five years, McDonough hopes to open another service for dog owners to benefit owners, pets, and the neighborhood.

“In the next 5 years, I plan on opening a boarding and daycare facility in the same neighborhood of Monroe North, as well as another store or two in other neighborhoods and suburbs in the next 10 years,” says McDonough.
