The Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative is a unique international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State that aims to develop entrepreneurial skills and enhance economic opportunities for young professionals from across Latin America and the Caribbean through a four week “working” fellowship placement in U.S. companies and organizations.
Come listen to remarkable entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean with diverse business backgrounds who are trailblazers in their respective industries.
Cheryl Brunings – Suriname: C-Care: Young caregiving business in the model of care.com
Goal is to organize and expand her business and bring her company to international standards. Looks to train her caregivers better, add new services to her company and automate the whole concept.
Andres Esteban Cabrera Silva – Colombia: AC Technologies: Focuses on web and mobile tech to provide a better quality of life to healtchare system users
Goals are to learn effective management models and strategies for start-ups that execute high tech projects, grow state of the art knowledge and skills through practical training, meet cutting edge leaders/developrs/entrepreneurs in fields such as applied data science, obtain personalized guidance in developing strategies and methodologies for planning and development of mobile healthcare solutions, and to grow his network.
Necola Alisha Charles – Saint Kitts and Nevis: Millennial Financial & Professional Development Institute: Focuses on financial literacy and entrepreneurship for youth (15-35 years old)
Goals are to obtain advanced skills and knowledge to execute a successful business model and become a dynamic leader, improve the standard of living in St. Kitts and Nevis, provide aspiring young entrepreneurs with incubator style mentoring, coach and mentor youth.
Flavia Muonz Del Rio – Nicaragua: TH-Third Hand: Sustainable fashion brand
Goals are to learn more about successful start-ups and how to apply to her business, create social consciousness connections. She wants to make high end fashion from re-used fabrics and fashion accessories.
Natalia Pegoraro – Brazil: O Amor E Simples: E-commerce for fair price wedding dresses and accessories
Goals are to develop creative/entrepreneurial/leadership skills, learn about successful start-ups, meet digital marketing, data analysis and retail sales specialists, develop pitch/presentation skills.
Vanessa Pino Arocha – Cuba: Dulces Detalles: A small creative business making sweets and pastries
Goals are to show that Cuban entrepreneurs are ready to work hard, grow business through social media, how to seek investments. Seeks knowledge on how to write a solid business plan that stands the test of time and can be the foundation for the business, improve her management skills.
Ianir Ruben Sonis – Argentina: ReservaTurno: Mobile platform for booking beauty and wellness appointments
Goals are for networking, learn how to generate demand through online/email marketing. Want app to make impact on client’s monthly sales through increased appointments and thus, revenue.
Marjorie Liat Spitalnik – Uruguay: Tedybujo: Creates plush toys from children’s drawings
Goals are to get feedback on her ideas/start-up, how to further the business through e-commerce.
Sandra Valle – Peru: Insecta E.I.R.L.: Artisanal manufacturer of eco-fashion, handmade accessories, bags and backpacks
Goals are to improve as an entrepreneurial leader, update ideas, get feedback on her expansion and ecological ideas. Seeks to work on communication skills. Be prepared to take a succinct message back to Peru.
