Lunch & Learn: SBIR Funding with Michael Kurek
July 15, 2016 @ 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Start Garden in partnership with The Right Place invite you to a deep dive into Small Business Innovation Research funding with Michael Kurek PhD.
Learn how your innovation and commercialization experience can give you an edge over companies that are still developing their first product or service.
Whether your company has 25 employees or 500, you might be eligible to compete for a slice of more than $2.6 billion in non-dilutive R&D grants and contracts awarded annually to innovative small companies by 11 federal agencies through the SBIR and STTR programs. You may be able to use the SBIR/STTR programs to supplement your internal R&D budget or to partially fund diversification into new business areas if your company is involved in doing things like:
– High-risk/high-reward projects that do not meet the criteria for internal funding
– Development of a new technology that is in-licensed
– Evolving a new product idea that is being jointly developed with another company
Michael comes from BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting, a Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program, which provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with costs covered by a state grant. BBCetc is nationally recognized for its success in helping emerging companies win SBIR/STTR funding and use it strategically to propel growth. Its Michigan clients have been awarded over $183 million in funding since 2002.
