Joe McClure, Co-founder McClures Pickles
Co-Founder of McClure’s Pickles: McClure’s is a small family start up which employs over 30 team members and manufacturers product out of their own Detroit facility. The company was started based on an old family pickle recipe past down through generations. We used that recipe as a platform to develop additional products that are currently sold throughout the U.S. and abroad. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakland University and Ph.D. in Physiology from Wayne State University School of Medicine and currently resides in Detroit.
Jess McClary, Founder, McClary Bros
Jess McClary first founded McClary Bros., named for her now 7-year-old twin boys Jack & Ben, as McClary Bros. Bakehouse-a home based bakery. Over time, Jess grew to dislike the unhealthy aspects of the baking. She wanted to showcase the local flavors, but wanted to find a healthier method, that’s when she discovered Drinking Vinegars (“shrubs”) and had herlight bulb moment. Today, McClary Bros. Drinking Vinegars are served or sold in over 200 locations in 16 states.
Devita Davidson, Foodlab Detroit, Moderator
A native of Detroit and daughter of a preacher, Devita lived almost 19 years in New York before moving back to her hometown in 2012. Davita Davidson is head of Communications and Marketing for Foodlab Detroit. For her, words are not just letters strung together; they are vessels for love and fight, heart ache, wisdom, and profound joy. To say she wears her heart on her sleeve doesn’t feel adequate; whether decrying injustices in the food system or expounding on the beauty of a ripe strawberry in summer, her passion for this work is palpable. With fiery talk, wide-open arms, and an insatiable appetite for reading the latest in food justice and innovation, Devita propels the growth of FoodLab’s programming to address the transforming needs of our members.
Please RSVP on Eventbrite if you can join us. Space is very limited for this special event. Drink specials and light appetizers will be served.
