Join us for a free talk hosted by Treps Nest at Bamboo Detroit. This month’s talk.
According to Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, having a successful business is all about “getting the right people on the bus.” While that sounds pretty straightforward there’s a lot that goes into building that great culture. So what does it take to build the right entrepreneurial culture? Most people’s instinct is to begin executing on tactics – hiring an employee, finding an independent contractor an agency or even trying to do the work on their own.
There are many ways to fill the gaps and to execute in the areas of business knowledge, strategy and development, but the question is where to start.
Where it starts is with you and your organization beliefs, this is where and how your culture will be formed. Ultimately, how your team works as individual contributors and as a team is critical to your success. Creating a culture is developing a team of individuals that work towards a common cause and toward an ultimate outcome.
While a talent’s skill is important, their ability to fit into your team is more important. As Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba says, “Try to find the right people, not the best.” Michael Melfi, will explore ways entrepreneurs can build a team that will work for any company.
