Lara Galloway, Co-founder of MomBiz.com, knows first hand the struggles any mom business owner faces. Raising three kids of her own, she worked to build MomBiz.com, a portal for business coaching, training, and mentoring.
Lara needed a weekend to get away and focus on her business, and quickly learned her clients needed this space too. Mom Biz Retreat, an entrepreneurial getaway designed for mom business owners, is a time for professional business consulting, strategic planning, and also a time to relax with other female business owners.
“It’s good to work on business, not just in it,” said Lara. “It was something my girlfriends and I started, stealing away into a hotel in town for a weekend to focus on our businesses.”
Mom Biz Retreat will be this May 17th-19th, with a small get together on the 16th for those flying in. The retreat will be held at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan, and is open to six mom business owners, with two seats still available.
The retreat is going on its second full year with events hosted in Toronto, Chicago, Denver, and the first Michigan Mom Biz retreat this May. Their consulting and strategic planning workshops are focused on every aspect of business from landing sales to creating editorial calendars, but also gives attendees the resources they need to take action.
“What we do this weekend is help you take action,” said Lara. “At a conference you go and you sit and get inspired, but you don’t take action. We give you the resources to follow through.”
Moms also get down time for pampering, including massages, manicures, food and chocolates from local sponsors.
“We created a weekend that we’d want to attend. A weekend of wine and dine, and talking about business,” said Lara.
These moms are often solo entrepreneurs who need the space and time to focus on strategic business planning. Lara and her business partner Shelagh Cummins offer strategic mentoring and business coaching online at MomBiz.com. For more information on the upcoming retreat visit Mom Biz Retreat 2.0.
