A founder can’t always build a product, team, and business on their own. Sometimes, we need a little help from our friends.

CoFoundersLab works like a dating site for founders, pairing up talented entrepreneurs with other entrepreneurs. The site also helps founders find interns and advisers. CoFoundersLab is hosting their first event in Detroit this month on March 19th, so we thought we’d dig in more to learn how their site works and how it might help you with your Michigan startup.

How can you get started? The website allows anyone to create a free profile, with an option to upgrade to Pro Membership. Pro Membership provides you with access to their special algorithm and unlimited messaging. Currently, the website has over 25,000 members from all over the world, and they claim to add thousands of founders each month.

“Our goal is to help entrepreneurs build stronger founding teams faster,” said Michael Hughes, VP of Community Development. “Co-Founders, advisers, and interns are all key core team players for an early stage startup.”

The website has partnered with top accelerators like Techstars, as well as many top universities including our own University of Michigan.

Catch them on March 19th at Grand Circus for CoFoundersLab Matchup Detroit. You can catch more events like this quarterly.

“We are committed to both online matching and offline events. We hold our offline events quarterly in 30+ markets, and hope to be in 50 markets by the end of 2014,” said Michael.

Anyone in Michigan can get started creating a profile online at CoFoundersLab.com.
