Code Michigan Hackathon Comes to Detroit, Marquette, Newaygo

Last year the State of Michigan put together a hackathon for the civic minded. The challenge was to create applications that could help the government. Code Michigan is back again this year but this time it’s expanding to Detroit, Marquette, and Newaygo.

This three day event will happen October 3-5th and invites all coders and technologists to come participate.  At each location a first, second, and third place cash prize will be given out. First place is $5,000, with a second place prize of $1,500 and third place prize of $500. The first place winners will then go on to compete for the grand prize of $10,000 and a 30 minute pitch opportunity with one of the state’s leading VC firms Renaissance Venture Capital Fund.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Last year’s event was a hit in Detroit. We can’t wait to see what developers come up with in October. Let us know if you’re heading to the Michigan town near you for this event.
