Ann Arbor Startups Can Compete for Hardware Cup

Across nine cities, including Michigan’s own Ann Arbor, startups are preparing for the hardware accelerator AlphaLab Gear’s 2016 National Hardware Cup. There’s one $50K grand prize awarded to the national winner.

The leading hardware accelerator is based in Pittsburgh, and has teamed up with StartBot, TechShop, Bosch, Indiegogo, Arrow Electronics, Altium, and Solidworks to launch the 2016 AlphaLab Gear National Hardware Cup.

Have a hardware tech idea? If you’re an early-stage startup wanting to create a physical product you can submit your pitch due this week for the upcoming February 1st pitch event. One national winner will receive a $50,000 grand prize investment from StartBot, and one winning team from each city will receive a $1,000 cash prize along with other perks.

We don’t think you have to be located in Ann Arbor, but you will have to travel to the city for the pitch event on February 1st. Full details can be found at www.hardwarecup.com.

We’d love to see a Michigan team win! Best of luck and get your pitch out there. Check out our Michigan funding resource for more pitch opportunities, grants, VCs and angel funding sources.
