5 Innovative Michigan Made Products From 2015

Michigan has always been a state of makers. Whether it’s technical innovation, auto manufacturing, or the recent shift to a more mini maker culture, we’re still here creating.

In 2014, we saw some really innovative product inventions and some from that previous year’s list have continued to grow. This year, we saw everything from the quirky ideas you can now purchase at Bed, Bath & Beyond, to the simple inventions that improve safety and daily life.

Below are five cool inventions made in Michigan this past year!

Green Glove Dryer
This mom entrepreneur is also a stellar saleswoman. After seeing a need to dry gloves more easily for her kids, she worked with her husband to invent the Green Glove Dryer. But her knack for sales and hard work helped her land big deals from the beginning. The Green Glove Dryer has won awards this year and is now available in places like Bed, Bath & Beyond. Safetunez
A motorcyclist who loves music found holding onto an iPod while driving to be a big distraction. So, he invented a new clip on device that offers a safer way to attach and listen to music on your motorcycle. The patented product is also useful for those with wheel chairs and other motor devices. FLOYD
What started off as an inventive new tool for furniture, has expanded into a whole new line for urban living. The maker based in Detroit now offers very unique items that are more flexible, simple, and modern for the urban dweller. Check out our earlier story on this product, and their new expansion.

Ash & Anvil
This founding pair has always struggled to find great clothing for shorter men. So, they invented a new product that better fits men under 5′ 8″. They are aiming to take hold of a market share that’s 33% of all men’s clothing. Check out their first products launched in our previous story.

In Grand Rapids earlier this year we crossed paths with this startup, OXX, the world’s strongest coffee maker. It was designed for folks who work outdoors or in more rugged environments. What a great idea and a growing startup to see in Michigan. Check out our first story on Oxx.
